چکیده

This paper studies the joint multicast beamforming and user scheduling problem, with the objective of minimizing total transmitting power across multiple channels by jointly assigning each user to appropriate channel and designing multicast beamformer for each channel. The problem of interest is formulated in two different optimization problems, a mixed binary quadratically constrained quadratic program and a highlystructured nonsmooth program. Two different algorithms, based on convex relaxation and convex restriction, respectively, are proposed to solve the problem. The performance ratio between the approximate solution provided by the convex-relaxationbased algorithm and optimal solution is proved to be upper bounded by a constant independent of problem data. The convex-restriction-based algorithm is guaranteed to converge to a critical point to the nonsmooth formulation problem. Finally, extensive simulation results verify the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the advantage of the proposed co-design scheme over conventional fixed scheduling and random scheduling in terms of power consumption.

Joint Beamforming and Scheduling Design in Hierarchical Cognitive Radio Networks

Cognitive radio (CR) has been recently regarded as an important technique to improve spectrum utilization. In the thesis, we present a joint design approach to integrate power allocation, antenna beamforming and user scheduling to maximize the system sum rate of multiple users in the hierarchical CR networks with multicarrier transmissions. Concurrent transmissions between CR users and licensed...

Multi-antenna Interference Management for Coded Caching

A single cell downlink scenario is considered where a multiple-antenna base station delivers contents to multiple cache-enabled user terminals. Using the ideas from multi-server coded caching (CC) scheme developed for wired networks, a joint design of CC and general multicast beamforming is proposed to benefit from spatial multiplexing gain, improved interference management and the global CC ga...

Joint Beamforming and Scheduling for SDMA Systems with Limited Feedback

On a multi-antenna broadcast (downlink) channel, simultaneous transmission to multiple users is capable of achieving very high throughput. Unfortunately, the optimal approach for such multi-user transmission, namely dirty paper coding, is highly complicated. Therefore, this paper proposes a practical joint beamforming and scheduling scheme that is enabled by feedback of quantized channel state ...

Impact of Angular Spread in Correlated MIMO Channels under Pilot Contamination

Pilot contamination is known to be one of the main bottlenecks for massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) networks. For moderately large antenna arrays (of importance to recent/emerging deployments) and correlated MIMO, pilot contamination may not be the dominant factor in certain scenarios. To the best of our knowledge, a rigorous characterization of the achievable rates and their explicit de...

Joint Antenna Selection and Beamforming Algorithms for Physical Layer Multicasting with Massive Antennas

We investigate the problem of minimizing the total power consumption under the constraint of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) requirement for the physical layer multicasting system with large-scale antenna arrays. In contrast with existing work, we explicitly consider both the transmit power and the circuit power scaling with the number of antennas. The joint antenna selection and beamforming te...
